Why We Fight: Remembering AIDS Activism

How are HIV and AIDS affecting the local New York City communities of the Bronx, Manhattan, and Staten Island?

The New York Public Library is hosting a project in conjunction with Why We Fight that aims to answer that question.

Colectivo Piloto members had the privilege to work along with Avram Finkelstein; a Brooklyn-based artist, writer and activist, whose work is in the permanent collection of MoMA and the Met.

Under the direction of the artist, Colectivo Piloto developed a set of graphic pieces for the installations illustrating the concept of ‘Undetectability’ and its relationship to stigma in the context of each of the affected communities.

The installations were exhibited for a period of three months at the libraries of St George, Staten Island; Washington Heights and Jefferson Market in Manhattan and Hunt’s Point in The Bronx.
