With a committed vision to social change and a strong belief in collective power, Colectivo Piloto rethinks education as an essential vehicle for communities to thrive, rather than a unique commodity for individuals to succeed. With this vision in mind, Colectivo Piloto advances community participation and fosters youth development through inclusive multimedia storytelling in partnership with government agencies, cultural centers and educational institutions with the mission of: ·

Pathway to Success: Our Approach and Accomplishments
Colectivo Piloto thinks critically about the ways in which learning spaces, methodologies and results fail to meet the needs and representation of collectives who have been historically marginalized. Our educational initiatives aim to explore and represent the world as it is, not as it has been historically imagined by mainstream media and film. Since its foundation in 2004, Colectivo Piloto has been advancing community participation and youth development by:
Partnering with educational centers, NGOs and government agencies in Latin America, Spain and the U.S. to develop media literacy initiatives which have benefited more than 100k students
Advancing media production startups championed by underrepresented youth entrepreneurs
Co-producing award-winning film documentaries on social causes
Creating film festivals to advance underrepresented youth producers and filmmakers
Producing educational shows to promote culturally diverse perspectives and advance youth entrepreneurship
Helping youth in their journey of becoming inclusive multimedia storytellers through mentoring programs
Our educational media projects have been cited by researchers in several books and papers for ‘the innovative use of media technologies for collaborative work, the use of digital media to foster youth independence and leadership and in assuming a critical social perspective.’
